Humanities Department Holds Coastal Geography Field Trip

On Tuesday, 10th February 2026, the Humanities Department successfully embarked on a day-long Coastal Geographical Field Trip. The journey began at the Sea Port in Banjul, continued along the Senegambia coastal line to Fajara Beach, then to the Tanji Fish Landing Site, and concluded in Kartong.

The field trip provided students with practical exposure to geographical concepts studied in class, allowing them to connect theory with real-life experiences. Students were accompanied by their dedicated Geography teachers: Mr. Ousman Sowe, Mr. Ebrima Jawneh, and Mr. Momodou S. Jallow.

Learning Beyond the Four Walls

The primary aim of the field trip was to expose students to practical geographical concepts previously taught within the four corners of their classrooms. Through observation, interaction, and real-life experiences, students deepened their understanding of:

  • Coastal landforms and processes

  • Economic activities along the coast

  • Environmental sustainability

  • The relationship between physical and human geography
